Material for scintillators - application to the building of very fast, high-energy photon detectors, and of tomographs
Description
The characteristic of this material for scintillators is that it is formed of barium fluoride. The utilization of a scintillator made of this material makes it possible to have an error in time of flight determinations, at least 1.3 times less than that obtained by using a scintillator of cesium fluoride, for scintillators having the same geometry. This can be noticed by making such determinations, with a measuring unit, of the time gap between the detection moments of two #betta# photons resulting from a positron-electron annihilation, emitted by a positron emitting substance, the measuring unit having two scintillators which are first in cesium fluoride, then in barium fluoride

Ce materiau pour scintillateurs se caracterise en ce qu'il est constitue de fluorure de baryum. L'utilisation d'un scintillateur fait de ce materiau permet notamment d'avoir une erreur dans les mesures de temps de vol, au moins 1,3 fois plus faible que celle obtenue en utilisant un scintillateur en fluorure de cesium, pour des scintillateurs de meme geometrie. On peut le constater en faisant de telles mesures a l'aide d'une chaine de mesure de l'ecart temporel entre les instants de detection de deux photons #betta# resultant d'une annihilation positron-electron, emis par une substance emettrice de positrons, la chaine comportant deux scintillateurs qui sont d'abord en fluorure de cesium, puis en fluorure de baryumAdditional details
