Instrumentation for high-energy transfer neutron scattering

Description

Neutron spectroscopy of high energy excitations requires development of new techniques. Hot sources at reactors and the moderators at the new pulsed sources provide neutrons of high enough energy to enable this new spectroscopy. Methods developed primarily for use of the up-to-now-more-plentiful thermal neutrons, need to be adapted and supplemented with new techniques to make use of the higher-energy neutrons in these applications. The following provides some basic information that may be useful for considering instrumentation questions
