Nucleon-nucleon potential in the cluster model with six quarks

Description

A new effective nucleon-nucleon potential is presented, which is based on a non-relativistic model with two three-quark clusters. Although the potential is highly nonlocal and nonadiabatic it is possible to get some information about the repulsive core from the local adiabatic part alone and, in addition, a hint of a weak attraction beyond the core, if the results for the various definitions of the local adiabatic part are carefully compared. It has also been found that the Δ - Δ and coloured baryon-coloured baryon channels make important contributions to the N-N channel. The importance of ensuring good angular momentum is noted.
