Proton magnetic resonance spectra of beryllium nitrates solutions and state of Be2 cations

Description

Acetone, water-acetone and aqueous solutions of beryllium nitrate have been investigated by proton magnetic resonance at temperatures from +30 to -100 deg C, 0.02 (<=) [Be](>=) 0.8 mol., 2 (<=) [H2O]/[Be] (>=) 150. The lines of PMR spectra have been assigned with due regard for the formation of nitrate and hydroxocomplexes of Be2+ in the solutions. The aim of the investigation has been to study the effect of the nitrate-ion and other factors on the complex formation of the Be2+ ion. The spectra PMR reveal that in water-acetone solutions beryllium nitrate is present predominantly in the form of tetraaquacomplexes co-existing with diaquahydroxy(oxo)complexes which are, evidently, polymerized. The presence of hydrolized form is confirmed by the analysis of spectra O17 MP of aqueous solutions of berrylium nitrate
