Pilot-scale plant for steel ionic carburizing

Description
An ionic carburizing plant was designed and tested where the charge can be heated both by glow discharge and graphitic heaters. Specifications and a schematic representation of the plant are shown. Using the 20Kh2N4A steel as an example the advantages of ionic carburising over gas carburing are illustrated which are as follows: considerable acceleration of the process, a decrease of carbon-containing gas consumption, ease of control, explosion-proof quality etc
