Biomass offers integrated solutions in Australia

This article highlights the Australian government's policy of increasing the contribution of renewable energy sources and in particular biomass to power generation. Details are given of the use of bagasse from the Australian sugar industry and the amount of power that can be generated from sugar waste. Research into the gasification of wood waste, the current use of wood wastes in some power plants, and the co-firing of wood and coal are discussed. (UK)
