High-Tc YBa2Cu3O7-δ thin films fabricated from a stable acetate solution precursor

Description
c-axis-oriented YBa2Cu3O7-δ thin films have been fabricated on (100) LaAlO3 and (100) SrTiO3 substrates by using the sol-gel spin-coating method with acetate solution precursors. The YBCO/LAO thin films show a high degree of (00 l) preferred orientation and a superconducting transition temperature of 84 K. A YBCO precursor solution of a mixed propionic acid/amine solvent is stable in air with a shelf life longer than 8 months. The results indicate that this sol-gel method can be used to prepare thin films for superconducting device applications at low cost. (author)
