To the theory of two-beam acceleration of charged particles in plasma waveguide

Description

The paper presents the results of the analysis of a two-beam scheme of charged particle acceleration in a plasma waveguide immersed in a longitudinal strong magnetic field. It is shown that the electric field inhomogeneity across the section of the plasma waveguide can be used to ensure effective acceleration of charged particles. It is found that the optimum acceleration regime can be attained under the condition that the accelerated particles get into the accelerating field corresponding to the region of the first peak of the amplitude. The greatest energy of the accelerated electrons as a function of the guiding beam current is determined. The current of the accelerated electrons with the maximum energy is found to be 5 to 10% of the total beam current
