Studies into the induction of prophage φ3T with ultraviolet light
Description
Studies into the induction of the lysoganic bacterial cultures provide abundant data about the molecular organization of the bacterial genome and about the regulation of its expression. The lysogenic strains of Bac. subtilis were used. Dependence of the indication of the prophage on the irradiation dose, indicator strain and duration of incubation after the irradiation was investigated. The results obtained indicated that the induction of a given prophage with ultraviolet light may be increased in size by the application of irradiation dose specific for the lysogenic strain; suitable indicator strain and adequate duration of the incubation after irradiation
