Improved determination of the scalar Stark polarizability α for the 6s→7s transition in cesium
Description
Calculations of the scalar Stark polarizability α(6s,7s) for the 6s→7s transition in cesium are reported. These calculations lead to a value Δα(6s,7s)=-3.4±0.8a03, for the contributions from states other than 6p or 7p. Combining this value with experimental measurements leads to an improved semi-empirical value α(6s,7s)=-269.2±2.8a03. (orig.)
