Description

Full text: In this talk our current understanding of the gravitational-wave driven r-mode instability is summarized. It is explained how the neutron star composition enters the problem, and describes progress towards understanding how the instability works in superfluid stars. Recent results for hyperon and color superconducting cores are discussed. (author)
