Current status of the Soviet steam generator industry
Creators
Description
This chapter begins by comparing US and USSR boiler manufacturing plant capacity, nuclear reactor construction potential, and installed steam generator capacity. Soviet technology lags behind the US in system automation, especially in fuel supply and preparation facilities. Standardized procedures for operation and maintenance of power plants and the training of personnel have led to a relatively low accident rate in the USSR at power plants. USSR is also lagging behind Western countries in the field of air and water pollution control. Sulfur removal systems are practically nonexistent in the USSR
