Electroacoustic echo in ferroelectric materials

  • 1. AN SSSR, Leningrad. Fiziko-Tekhnicheskij Inst.

Description

A review is presented of available data on nature and on fundamental properties of the new phenomenon- an electroacoustic or phonon echo, observed in piezoelectric crystals after giving two electromagnetic pulses. The echo is connected with dielectric and piezoeffect nonlinearities. The prospects of using the electroacoustic echo technique for studies on phase transitions in ferroelectrics and piezosemiconductors are pointed out. Studies of the electroacoustic echo in ferroelectric crystals are of great scientific interest, since it makes the possibility to obtain data on nonlinear properties that are of great importance in arising spontaneous polarization by independent means. Delay circuits, different equipment for signal correlation processing and memory devices can be created on the basis of electroacoustic echo phenomena
