Description

In order to coordinate the operation of TFTR, the computer system was required to allow the experimentalists to specify certain control parameters and waveforms (time vs. control setting) which are relevant to the production of TFTR discharges. These parameters comprise the Machine State Database (MSD). The Master Clock for sequencing TFTR was designed to support the phases of MSD decision, validation, and implementation with the ability to recycle should validation fail. The clock issues systems interrupts at each of these phases as well as at other times in order to trigger all the systems to operate simultaneously to produce the discharge. These interrupts also interface to the Event System which will trigger programs to run during various phases of the cycle
