Description
This paper examines the effect of fundamental design characteristics on the responses of dual-detector density tools as used in borehole logging, using a modified version of the Monte Carlo code MCNP. It is shown that certain design features are essential for the production of a usable spine-and-rib plot on which an accurate mudcake compensation algorithm could be based. A simple solution was identified to a possible problem in the spin-and-rib diagram for barite loaded mudcakes. (author)
