Luminance characteristics testing of radiographic illuminator

The luminance characteristics of five industrial radiographic illuminators have been tested, based on the Indonesian National Standard SNI-J8-6932-2002. The luminance characteristics included brightness, diffusion, and uniformity have been examined using luxmeter EXTECH Model 409026. The results show that the light brightness of illuminators are slightly different. Brightness of illuminators are eligible to view the radiograph with density less than 3.0 for number 2, density less than 3.5 for number 1 and 5, and density less than 4.0 for number 3 and 4. The light diffusion testing shows that all illuminators have factor of diffusion more than 0.7. The Light uniformity testing shows that illuminator number 4 does not meet the requirement. (author)
