Biomass fits in well into system for transportation fuels

Description

About one third of the Dutch energy is transported to the consumer in the form of liquid fuel, of which diesel, petrol and kerosene are the most important examples, with petroleum as the basic material. Biomass can be an acceptable and sustainable alternative, because bio-alcohol or bio-oil fits in very well into the existing system of refineries and fuel distribution. Although the price is still too high, oil companies carefully explore the market for the best options to produce fuels from biomass. 1 fig., 9 refs
