Present status of neutron imaging and future developments
- 1. Paul Scherer Institute, Villigen PSI (Switzerland)
Description
This short overview gives a summary of facts about neutron imaging today. There are many prominent places at neutron sources where neutron imaging is in use with great success. Given by the important progress on the detector side, the neutron fields can be used now much more efficiently with image rates up to 30 per second. The new techniques enable a direct quantification of the sample content from the digital information of the images. On the other hand, neutron tomography, phase contrast imaging and real-time studies became possible. Based on this technological progress, new applications in science and technology became practical. Few examples are sketched
