A model of the fluid temperature field in a turbulent flow parallel to heated tube bundle

Description

Basic understanding of thermal-hydraulic phenomena is essential to achieving reactor fuel assembly performance analysis. In this paper, a dimensionless parameter - a normalized fluid temperature - is defined and applied to fluid temperature measurements at particular positions at the exit plane of a bank of nine heated tubes, under different transverse heat flux shapes. This parameter presents an asymptotic trend to equilibrium values, which depend upon considered positions and flux shapes; when increasing the bulk Reynolds Number. Proposed correlations underlie the present approach to predict the fluid temperature field within the tube bundle. (Author)

Abstract (Portuguese)

O conhecimento basico dos fenomenos termo-hidraulicos e fundamental na analise do desempenho dos feixes combustiveis nucleares. Neste trabalho, um parametro adimensional - uma temperatura normalizada de fluido - e definido e aplicado a valores medidos de temperatura em pontos caracteristicos, no plano de sada do refrigerante, de feixe de nove tubos aquecidos, submetidos a diferentes distribuicoes transversais de fluxo de calor. Este parametro apresenta tendencia assintotica a valores de equilibrio, os quais dependem da localizacao do ponto considerado e das formas de fluxo, quando de aumenta o Numero de Reynolds do escoamento. Correlacoes propostas constituem a base de aplicacao do modelo, permitindo a analise do campo de temperatura de fluido no feixe de tubos. (Autor)
