The determination of 241Am by extraction-liquid scintillation counting method
- 1. Qinghua Univ., Beijing, BJ (China). Inst. of Nuclear Energy Technology
Description
Several factors which effect the determination of 241/Am by extraction-liquid scintillation counting are discussed. The interference of other α-particles and low energy β-particles and its elimination are studied. Organic phosphorus extractants such as HDEHP, HEHEHP are used as extractants. Several solvents are tested, and the results indicate that it is feasible to use hydrogenated kerosene instead of xylene (or toluene) as solvent in the determination of α-particles. The method is accurate and less labor-consuming. Its detective efficiency is rather high
