Adaptation of the industrial betatron produced in Poland for medical applications (preliminary dose measurements)

Description
Isodose distributions of X-ray beam, the percent depth dose along the central beam axis, transversial dose distributions and the heating characteristics of an industrial type - B30 S betatron designed and built by the Institute of Nuclear Research at Swierk is given. The measurements were carried out with the aid of an ionization chamber and a photographic technique in water and organic glass phantoms. The preliminary results call for some modification in the flattening filter design, since those used so far do not yield isodose distribution suitable for teletherapy. (author)
