Nuclear plant modeling

The scale model, when properly used, can become one of the most valuable tools available to the nuclear industry. The construction and use of three basic types of models are described. These models vary considerably in size and complexity, according to their purpose, and can easily differ in cost by a ratio of a thousand to one. The General Arrangement Model and Engineering Design Model display such a cost differential, yet each is essential to the achievement of a nuclear power plant which is optimum in economy, operability and maintainability. The Construction Model is a duplicate of the Design Model, but is located at the plant site. It practically ensures the utmost efficiency in construction planning, scheduling, logistics, manning, use of equipment and reporting.
