Description
A theoretical calculation is performed for radial energy distributions of δ-electrons in solid materials induced by MeV-energy heavy ion impacts based on a semi-empirical formula of δ-electron dose proposed by Waligorski et al. In the present investigation, a major correction is carried out for the result of Waligorski especially for their result of lower velocity incidence: ν < Zl2/3νB, often referred to as Lindhard-Scharff-Schiot (LSS) velocity region. The formula newly obtained in this work successfully reproduces the total energy deposition by δ-electrons in wide range of incident velocity for a variety of projectile ions. (author)
