Gamma-radiolysis of aqueous solution of histidine

Description
The dependence of Gi(-M) values of histidine on the concentration of irradiated 104-101 M solutions, pH and the presence of O2, N2O and sec-butyl alcohol was investigated. In oxygen-free medium the maximum radiation sensitivity of histidine was found at pH 5-8; in oxygenated solutions it was shifted to the 6-11 pH range. The formation of radiation products was also studied. The course of radiation decomposition of histidine depends on the presence of oxygen and on the pH of irradiated solution. (orig.)

Die Abhaengigkeit der Gi(-M)-Werte von Histidin von der Konzentration bestrahlter 104-101 M-Loesungen, ihrem pH-Wert und der Anwesenheit von O2, N2O und sec-Butylalkohol wurde untersucht. In sauerstofffreiem Medium lag die hoechste Strahlenempfindlichkeit von Histidin bei pH 5-8; in sauerstoffangereicherten Loesungen verschob sie sich nach pH 6-11. Weiterhin wurde die Entstehung der Strahlungsprodukte untersucht. Der Verlauf der Strahlungszersetzung von Histidin ist von der Anwesenheit von Sauerstoff und vom pH-Wert der bestrahlten Loesungen abhaengig. (orig.)Additional details
