The standard axion reconsidered
Description
We show that within the standard axion model, there is an allowed range of short axion lifetimes which has not yet been excluded experimentally. The implications of this in connection with the possible production of a new neutral particle in heavy-ion collisions is discussed. We propose a new search for axion production in upsilon decays which would extend the test of the axion model to shorter lifetimes. (orig.)
