Polychronous high-thermal metamorphism of ancient rocks of West Karelia

Description
An attempt is made to date by zircons of early metamorphic events of ancient rocks of West Karelia. Samples have been selected of rocks metamorphized under conditions of amphibole facies non-affected by granulitic metamorphism (feldspar primarily gabbro amphibolite and gneisso-tonalite). Values of U-Pb age for zircons of different generation, billion years, 2.76-2.74, 2.71-2.67, 3.37-3.13 are obtained. The conducted isotopic-geochronological investigation into zircons confirms earlier disclosed succession of metamorphic events in West Karelia
