Powder diffractometry
Description
The purpose of this article is to develop some of the principles and theoretical background behind powder diffraction data analysis and to outline the basic concepts of neutron powder diffraction instrumentation. Particular emphasis will be given to a detailed explanation of the highly successful Rietveld method of profile analysis. Examples of powder diffraction data have been taken principally from the two diffractometers LAD (Liquids and Amorphous Diffractometer) and HRPD (High Resolution Powder Diffractometer) at ISIS.
