Resources, waste and climate: essays on the economics of recycling
Creators
Description
In this PhD thesis, the author proposes an analysis of the economics of recycling when three types of interactions between human activities and the natural environment are considered: 1) the production/consumption of goods and the availability of virgin raw materials, 2) the production/consumption and accumulation of waste, and, 3) the production/consumption and associated carbon emissions. Over the course of four chapters, the author explores the potential of recycling for the development of a sustainable economic model by assessing its environmental impacts, analysing public policy objectives and challenging the analytical framework concerning sustainability
