Preparation of Ce-Pr mixed carbide by carbothermic reduction

Description
Carbothermic reduction was adapted to convert mixtures of cerium oxide and praseodymium oxide into cerium-praseodymium mixed dicarbides (CexPr1-xC2). XRD results indicate that the lattice parameters of CexPr1-xC2 vary continuously with x and that the complete miscibility exists between CeC2 and PrC2. (orig.)
