A tentative listing of the sensitivities and detection limits of the most sensitive ICP lines as derived from the fitting of experimental data for an argon ICP to the intensities tabulated for the NBS copper arc

Description

It was shown in a previous communication that, when proper margins are allowed for, intensities tabulated for the NBS copper arc can be converted into relative sensitivities in an inductively coupled plasma (ICP). The general rules for this conversion have been used to compute the relative ICP sensitivities of 453 'sensitive' lines of 71 elements. The availability of the 'true' relative intensity distribution of the background in this ICP made it possible also to calculate the approximate detection limits for the spectral lines in the wavelength region between 230 and 680 nm. The two rules followed in choosing spectral lines for their inclusion in the present list are stated. The elements in the list include the following; B, Be, Ce, Cs, Dy, Er,Eu, Gd, Hf, Ho, La, Li, Lu, Mo, Na, Nb, Nd, Pr, Rb, Re, Ru, Sc, Sm, Sr, Tb,Th, Tm, U, V, W, Y, Yb, Zr. (UK)
