Haar transforms and their application for the processing of nuclear spectra

  • 1. Bhabha Atomic Research Centre, Bombay (India). Electronics Div.

Description

This paper introduces the application of Haar transforms to the processing of nuclear spectra which are type II digital signals. It describes their advantages for the signals. It also describes the design of a Haar filter for the processing of a spectrum. It was used for noise reduction of a real gamma spectral peak and the results are presented. The method has a potential for applications in other fields. (author). 18 refs., 1 fig
