Description
Secular (dc) field generation by a single, obliquely incident p-polarized intense laser beam of ultrashort pulse duration is studied for steep density profiles. It is demonstrated that a secular uphill acceleration mechanism exists which could be observed experimentally as a negative secular electrostatic field in the skin layer. copyright 1996 American Institute of Physics
