Microwave processing of radioactive materials - I

Description

This report reviews the applications of microwave energy for processing radioactive materials with particular emphasis on processing radioactive wastes. The focus will be on the two FCC-approved microwave frequencies for industrial, scientific, and medical use, 915 and 2450 MHz. Five advantages of microwave heating over conventional heating is presented. Special design issues unique to microwave plants are discussed. Four applications of microwave power to processing of radioactive materials is presented
