Description
The problems of metrology for radiation measurements have been examined. The consequence of these problems was the introduction of the new dosimetric quantities - the field dose equivalent and the field adsorbed dose - the doses at the centre of a 10 mm radius tissue-equivalent sphere. The calculations of the field doses for photons with energies 0.01-10 MeV and for neutron in the energy range from thermal to 20 MeV have been performed. The results of calculations show that in most of practical cases the field dose equivalent is an upper estimation of the effective dose equivalent and can be used as an operational quantity in area monitoring of strongly penetrating radiation. The data obtained will find an application for preparation of the recommendations on practical use of the new dosimetric quantities in radiation protection. (author)
