Description
There is an on-going need for /sup 99m/Tc-labeled radiopharmaceuticals which can cross the blood-brain barrier. They must also be retained within the brain long enough to act as markers of regional blood perfusion for imaging by Single-Photon Emission Computerized Tomography (SPECT). Recently, new classes of /sup 99m/Tc brain perfusion agents have been prepared and been shown to cross the blood-brain barrier. In the process of examining bisaminobisthiol quadridentate ligands, the authors have recently completed /sup 99/Tc studies on the ligand Me/sub 6/N/sub 2/S/sub 2/H/sub 2/ . 2HC1. In part, the authors' present effort in developing a brain perfusion agent is directed towards appropriately functionalized derivatives of this system
