Description
Nigeria, which has s a population of 170 million, with an increment by 3% every year, is now facing an increasing demand for energy. While the current production of electric power mostly depends on thermal power using fossil fuel, there is also a strong demand for the suppression of CO2 emission, Therefore, there is an increasing attention and expectation for nuclear power. However, there are a number of issues to be solved for the introduction of nuclear power for electric power generation. Here I overview the current status of nuclear power in Nigeria and discuss future perspectives. (author)

ナイジェリアは1億 7000 万の人口を擁し、さらに年間 3%程度で成長を続けており、エネルギー需要が高まっている。現状では、発電の大部分を化石燃料を用いた火力発電で賄っているが、二酸化炭素排出抑制が求められていることから、原子力発電への関心や期待が高まっている。しかし、 ナイジェリアでの発電のための原子力導入には課題も多い。本稿では、ナイジェリアにおける原子力の現状を概観し、ナイジェリアの将来における原子力技術の可能性について論じる。(著者)Additional details
