Education and training in medical physics in India

Medical Physics is an applied branch of physics that deals with the application of physical principles, concepts and methods to the diagnosis and treatment of diseases. A medical physicist is involved in physics of imaging, quality assurance of radiological equipment, administration of radiation protection, radiobiological modeling, biomedical instrumentation, bioelectrical investigations of brain and heart, thermography, ultrasound, laser and nuclear magnetic resonance techniques. This presentation emphasises the need for adequately trained manpower to achieve the desired clinical objectives of the diagnosis and treatment in the cancer management programme of the institution
