Three dimensional modelling of free burning arcs
Description
A steady state three-dimensional model is developed to describe heat transfer and fluid flow in gas-tungsten welding arcs influenced by a transversal magnetic field. Predictions are made of arc column temperature, velocities, pressure, potential and current densities by solving the conservation of mass, momentum and energy. Predictions are in fair agreement with experimental results
