Vibrational spectra of CeF4 and ThF4 molecules isolated in low-temperature matrices

Description
Infrared and Raman spectra of CeF4 molecules and ir spectra of ThF4 molecules isolated in Ne, Ar, and Kr matrices at 4 K are obtained. The absorption spectra were searched for the v1 band to determine the molecular symmetry. Sample annealing and absorption polarization measurements in the v3 region were also used. Tetrahedral symmetry is established for both molecules. 8 refs., 4 figs
