Results and future plans of super heavy element research at RIKEN using GARIS

  • 1. Institute of Physical and Chemical Research RIKEN, Wako (Japan)

Description

A gas-filled recoil separator GARIS for super-heavy element research was installed at Institute of Physical and Chemical Research (RIKEN) linear accelerator facility. One of the interesting applications of the separator is a research of super heavy elements whose atomic number is greater then 110. We performed experiments to study productions and decays of super-heavy nuclei. Fourteen atoms of 271Ds (208Pb + 64Ni→271Ds + n), the same number of atoms of 272Rg (209Bi + 64Ni→272Rg + n) and two atoms of 277112 (208Pb + 70Zn→277112 + n) were observed and identified. And newly two atoms of 278113 (209Bi + 70Zn→278113 + n) were observed. In this presentation, we present about the apparatus of RIKEN, in particular the principle of the separator GARIS. And we present about the above observation results in detail, and finally a future plan shortly
