CO emission associated with compact continuum sources in dark clouds L1613 and L1640

Description

compact sources of continuum emission at millimeter wavelengths have recently been discovered in the dark clouds L1613 and L1640. The emission lines of 13CO and 12CO have been mapped in the direction of these obtects. The core region of L1640 (within approx.4' of the continuum objects) is rotating and has sharp gradients of temperature and density. The continuum object lies near the edge of the core region in a very-high-density environment. The nature of the continuum source (heated dust grains) and the surrounding molecular cloud are discussed
