Monte-Carlo calculations of microfield distributions in a plasma
Description
An electrical distribution function computation has been made with a Monte-Carlo program containing a serrated potential, and is presented in this report. The microfield created on one ion by all the others ions is thus obtained, taking the notching by electrons and the position correlations of a great number of ions in account. Several numerical approximations are possible: those used by De Witt, Hubbard and Hansen, but only for thermodynamical calculations and the spherical mean one, introduced by Paris, that has been widened to serrated potentials this last method reduces the calculation time and memory overcrowding. Microfield distributions calculated by these different approximations are compared

Nous presentons un calcul de la fonction de distribution du microchamp electrique effectue a l'aide d'un programme Monte-Carlo contenant un potentiel ecrante. Nous obtenons ainsi le microchamp cree sur un ion par tous les autres ions en tenant compte de l'ecrantage par les electrons et des correlations de positions d'un grand nombre d'ions. Plusieurs approximations numeriques du potentiel sont possibles: celles qu'avaient utilisees De Witt, Hubbard et Hansen, mais seulement pour des calculs de thermodynamique et celle de la moyenne spherique, introduite par Paris, que nous avons etendue a des potentiels ecrantes; cette derniere methode reduit de facon appreciable le temps de calcul et l'encombrement memoire.
