Validation of momentum transport theory in the core plasma of the ASDEX Upgrade tokamak
Description
In this work, an experimental methodology was established at the ASDEX Upgrade fusion experiment that allows the investigation of momentum transport in the core of the tokamak plasma. The transport mechanisms can be extracted using the modulation of neutral beam heating. The obtained transport coefficients agree with predictions of gyrokinetics and allow their validation. The results form the basis for reduced transport models and predictions of plasma rotation of future fusion devices.
