Cs-137 in roe-deer and other game species in the Federal Republic of Germany, 1986-1992
Description
The radiocesium contamination of several game species of the Federal Republic in Germany was studied between 1986 - 1987. There were large variations in Cs-137 activity concentration in game meat, depending on it's origin: the minimum measured value was 2 Bq.kg-1, the maximum was 5400 Bq.kg-1. The cesium-contamination of roe-deer, which is a good bioindicator, decreases significantly (P<0.001) from May 1986 - December 1987. But never the less there were found high Cs-137 activity concentrations in roe-deer even in 1987 in a few woodland areas. Between 1987-1992 the causality was studied in two of these areas: at the investigation-site Bodenmais (Bavaria), 638 from the 720 measured roe-deer (89%) had higher total Cs-activity concentrations than 600 Bq.kg-1, at the investigation site Fuhrberg (Lower Saxony) there were 75 of 600 (13%). Abstract (German)
Von 1986-1987 wurde die Radiocaesiumkontamination im Fleisch verschiedener Wildarten aus der Bundesrepublik untersucht. Die ermittelten Cs-137-Aktivitaeten schwankten, je nach der Herkunft und der Tierart zwischen 2 Bq.kg-1 im Minimum und 5.400 Bq.kg-1 im Maximum. Bei Rehwild, das als guter Bioindikator gilt, nahm die Cs-137 Aktivitaet von Mai 1986 bis Dezember 1987 signifikant ab (P<0.001). In einigen Waldgebieten wurden allerdings auch 1987 noch anhaltend hohe Aktivitaeten in Rehwild festgestellt. Daraufhin wurde in zwei dieser Problemgebiete von 1987-1992 die Kontamination von Rehwild bestimmt: in Bodenmais (Bayern) waren 638 von 720 untersuchten Rehen, mit mehr als 600 Bq Gesamtcaesium belastet, das sind 89%, im Untersuchungsgebiet Fuhrberg (Niedersachsen) waren es 13%.
