Evaluation of radical irradiation in patients with prostate cancer

Description
Therapeutic effects of radical radiotherapy in 9 patients with locally advanced prostate cancer are presented. Overall actuarial 5-year survival for stage T1-T2NxMo and T3-T4NxMo were 90% and 22% respectively. The corresponding actuarial 5-years relapse free survival were 70% and 14%. The local control rates were 93% and 55%. Complications of treatment were acceptable. These results confirm that external beam irradiation is an effective treatment for prostate cancer without distant metastases. (author)
