Description

For a magnetized plasma the over-riding quasineutrality plasma property is actually a severe restriction, usually overlooked, on the charged species motion. To analyze this, conservation of particle number n is used for introducing as the fluid formulation variable X/n instead of the usual X referring to fluid property per unit volume. X/n becomes fluid property per particle. With X standing for angular momentum it was proved that just quasi- neutrality ne = ni = n/2 makes the plasma total torque tensor act preferentially on the ions whenever the electrons are free to perform Larmor gyrations. The ion fluid will then have conservation of its canonical, i.e., matter-plus-field, angular momentum so that action on its matter part has its response reaction on the magnetic vector potential field part.
