Description
The determination of basic characteristics of the resin which are important to be studied while evaluation of an ion exchange resin i.e. its grain size, capacity, bulk density, mechanical strength, water content and degree of cross-linking, rates of ion exchange, useful pH range and the properties required to be determined for the operation of columns viz., void volume, changes in volume on conversion from one form to other and breakthrough capacity or operating exchange capacity are discussed. The results of determination of surface area, pore size and osmotic shock test are also reported in this paper. (author)
