Description

Molecular recognition of a styryl-based fluorogenic probe with sulfobutylether β-cyclodextrin found to be very strong, registering a very high association constant, Ka~7.84 x 105 M-1. This exceptionally high Ka of the probe with SBE10 βCD leading to the phenomenal modulation in probe photophysical properties, has been attributed to the strong electrostatic interactions between the cationic guest and the polyanionic host along with improved hydrophobic interactions due to the SBE groups present on the rims of the cyclodextrin cavity.
