Numerical calculations of the magnetic behaviour of a superconductor sample with finite size

  • 1. Department of Chemical Engineering, University of Notre Dame, Notre Dame, IN (United States)

Description

Previously many research groups have modelled the magnetic response for ideal superconductor samples, but recently Brandt has suggested a method of numerical calculations for a realistic type II superconductor with finite dimensions. These numerical calculations were used to compute the theoretical dynamic magnetic response of a melt-textured (solid-liquid melt growth) YBa2Cu3O6+δ sample. The results were compared with actual magnetization data and it was found that such method works well for samples of high-temperature superconductors with finite dimensions. (author)
