A detector for localizing diverging beams of ionizing radiations

Description

Description is given of a detector for localizing diverging radiation beams, adapted to provide the angular distribution of nuclear events. That detector comprises a casing filled with a fluid adapted to produce electric charges under radiations and provided with a front-side and a rear-side, means for generating an electric field at right angles to portions of parallel surfaces of revolution having in common an axis of revolution contained in the place of symmetry, and a plane unit for localizing electric charges mounted at the rear of said means, the initial portion of the beam being on the axis of revolution. This can be applied to X-ray diffraction and to neutron diffraction

Abstract (French)

On decrit un detecteur de localisation de faisceaux divergents de rayonnements pour donner la repartition angulaire d'evenements nucleaires. Le detecteur comprend un boitier rempli d'un fluide apte a produire des charges electriques sous l'action des rayonnements et comportant une face avant et une face arriere, des moyens pour creer un champ electrique perpendiculaire a des portions de surface de revolution paralleles entre elles admettant un axe commun de revolution contenu dans le plan de symetrie, et un ensemble plan de localisation de charges electriques place en arriere des moyens, l'origine du faisceau appartenant a l'axe de revolution. Ceci est applicable a la diffraction X et a la diffraction neutronique
